" As an architect I was always fascinated by the geometries and patterns used in the ornaments in Iranian architecture, wall drawings, tilings, moldings, brickwork and etc.
In the attempt of bringing the ancient motifs and patterns to life in designing furniture, we (Forouzan Farhadi, Dena Bakhtiari) started studying the similar motifs in Iranian hand-woven carpets and kilims. This lead to the idea of using these patterns on metal surface, the main material we use in our designs.
We did not wish to use them just in shape, but to use these motifs with their original identity of being woven. We started sewing with thread on metal surfaces while singing just as the old Iranian nomad women would while weaving carpets or killims."
