MELODY HESARAKY

Fashion Designer

A Persian, New York based textile designer and artist; Melody Hesaraky is in between the world of art and fashion. She is known for her fashion illustrations that are making a bridge between fashion, art and music.
Her work was published in 20+ magazines in 2019 including, KALTBLUT Magazine, Vanity Teen, HUF Magazine, VULKAN Magazine and more. From an early age Melody has been involved in art through drawing and painting. This impulse toward artistic creativity from early ages nurtured deep inside her a kind of determination, that her prospective career must be connected to art and design. She received her Bachelor in 3D Design and Craft with honors from University of Brighton, UK in 2014 and received her MFA in Textile Design for Fashion from the Academy of Art University in San Francisco. She started her own label called Melody Hes Studio in Feburary 2019 to build a brand that applies multiculturalism to fashion, textiles, design, and art.

This collection of illustrations were inspired by the situation in New York City during COVID-19, where I currently live and work. Right now is the time to be sensible and inspire each other. This situation can be a rare opportunity to connect to each other at a deeper level, perhaps it’s time to share with each other the ways we cope, reflect and move forward. I am creating on a daily basis and these recent illustrations are portraying how it feels to be self-isolated these days. Music was one of the leading forces while creating them as I use music as an analogy or metaphor in my designs and artistic expression. Based on this I have discovered unconventional techniques in my pattern designs and art-making approach. Like music, my work was created from the depth of my inner self and the purest way to express this is letting the rhythm leads what I draw.
