Handmade Accessories Designer
Sarah Baqa 27 years old born and raised in Tehran, Iran.
She has been working in the fields of design since 2016, there are collections of costume design (fashion design), handmade jewelry, hand weaving and costume design for theater and short films.
The original idea is based on recycling old books which, instead of getting dusted and turning into pulp and raw paper, can become a wearable object that carries the stories that have the ability to be worn anytime, anywhere.
The idea started when Sarah noticed old books in bookstores and realized that these old books will turn to dough and the identity of the books will be simply lost.
The idea is giving these books another life and turning them into a new artwork with new things to say.
At this stage the pieces are not limited to old books, orders can be custom made with a particular books to be a wearable item like necklaces.
The technique is cutting the old pages of books into circles and creating a void in the middle, all by hand to join the pieces together.
In addition, due to the nature of the material being un-resistant to water and similar sensitivities, the entire surfaces gets covered with nano coating material.
