SIN-A STUDIO

 Home Accessories Designer

Sina Karbasian (b. 1992) is the founder of “SIN-A STUDIO”. He holds an MA degree in Architecture, an expertise he fancied from an early age and had such an important effect on his worldview and thought process that even today he is doing architecture in his furniture designs. In architecture, getting from the initial idea to the final piece is time-consuming, and thus he decided to take his architectural ideas into furniture design, to reduce the time it takes for his ideas to come into reality.
In 2018, he launched his own studio. The studio gradually found its identity after two successful collections. The Covid pandemic nearly brought his work to a halt, but at the same time the new collection, titled “ĀBĀDI” was born in the days he had to stay at home. The main idea behind the collection took shape during many travels and out of his architectural view towards the aesthetics of different cities and regions. The collection is also influenced by his interest in the Iranian culture and art, antiques and historical objects, metaphors, dreamlike and hypnagogic mind-states. Playing with proportions and scales, symmetry and geometrical accuracy, and the colors used, all help build this dreamlike state.
Iranian gentry, being a fundamental basis of his genre, is evident both in the works themselves and in their creation process. His ideas take shape when drawing by hand, using pen and paper, and digital mediums are only used in later stages to refine the blueprint.
